"Dance Craze & Leg Show" zine

Dance Craze is an offset printed 32 page 8 1/2" x 11" magazine on medium weight matte paper stock.

This was the zine I created for a show I did in collaboration with reGeneration furniture.

Here is the press release from the show.

Dance Craze/Leg Show is a series of photographs, collages, sculptures and films that address the photographer's gaze and the fetishistic nature of commodification, objectification, and collecting. Employing mid-century modern furniture and objects as proxies and intermediaries, Rose's often humorous and unsettling scenes explore the urge to covet, own, hold and regard "beautiful things". Hand-rendered and found texts, exacto-cut collage, and crude production/retouching techniques are all brought to bear as Rose creates images that muddle the relationships between human/object and photographer/subject.

The series referentially leverages editorial source material from mid-century men's magazines and media to draw a parallel between the flatly objectified, hyper-sexualized human form and the representations of objects in the marketing materials of the makers of high design. In doing so, Rose imbues mid-century modern design works with an animated eroticism, the furniture forms moving from passive object to active subject.
